Apple iPhone 8 Plus 64gb The "One More Thing" announcement took the thunder away from what was supposed to be the highlight of the day, the Apple iPhone 8 and the Apple iPhone 8 Plus 64Gb. Or were these two models just distractions for the main event? Trying to make sense of that question will just take away concentration from what this article is all about, the Apple iPhone 8 Plus 64Gb. This here is the last hurrah for the classic smartphone design that had dominated over the last 10 years. The large bezels and the physical home button wrapping around a screen size of 5.5 inches of the iPhone 8 Plus were still considered to be a large design, but still a classic to fans of the giant at Cupertino.   Overall Build Even though the iPhone X was supposed to be an evolution over the previous decade of phones, there wasn’t much to differentiate it from the iPhone 8 and the 8 Plus, apart from the display. The iPhone 8 is powered by the same Apple A11 Bionic hexacore chipset found on the X. You can pick the iPhone 8 Plus with a colour such as Space Gray, Gold and Silver. The glass front and glass back are held together by an aluminium frame. The nano sim card has been the gold standard for quite some time. Apple pay is also included as standard and Touch ID remains a standard while the X and subsequent models will get Face ID. This is still a fast way to unlock your phone A 3 core Apple GPU rounds up the processing unit to give a performance masterclass that is still relevant in 2021. You have a whopping 64 Gb to store your photos, pictures and videos you download from TikTok. If 64gb of storage is not enough, you can instead get the 256gb on your unlocked mobile You will find a 5.5 inch IPS LCD screen that can light up to 625 nits and 1080p HD goodness. The wide colour gamut of the display makes for a great colour show and is well protected behind an ion strengthened glass and oleophobic coating. The buttery smooth experience of the iPhone 8 Plus is made possible by 3 gigs of RAM.  The experience is made possible with a 2691 mAh battery that is kept juiced by a 15-watt fast charger. You can choose to have Qi wireless charging if you are not a fan of archaic plugs.   The Cameras A great reason to consider a smartphone is its photo-taking abilities. The iPhone 8s is probably still one of the best phones out there in terms of the capabilities of its cameras. A dual 12 MP unit sits at the back of the phone. One of the sensors is a wide camera and the other is a telephoto/zoom lens capable of 2x optical zoom. The cameras are backed up by a Four LED dual-tone flashlight that makes for quite the enhancement, especially when HDR is added to the equation. The cameras are capable of recording 4K video at a snappy 60 fps.  With this setup comes improved workings to the Portrait Lighting Mode, which is just a fancy name for the bokeh effect that DSLR cameras have long been capable of for producing an image. This feature will be quite useful when you utilize the 7 MP front camera to lay thirst traps on Instagram.   Buying the iPhone 8 Plus We have a stock of brand new units for sale at our online shop. Apple iPhone 8 Plus 256Gb The iPhone 8 Plus 256gb is a phone that was born with a great burden on its shoulders. It came at a time where the iPhone was facing stiff competition from the Android ecosystem and was actually slacking. Rather than being the phone that would put the iPhone at the top again, it faced competition right from birth by the more expensive iPhone X. In spite of everything going against it, the iPhone 8 plus 256 GB still turned out a fighter and was quite popular. The iPhone 8 Plus 256 Gb was the last of a decade of language design with a home button that Apple had pioneered and maintained, but was still as functional as when it first came out.   Checking out the iPhone 8 Plus 256gb Straight from the surface, you will be greeted by elegant gold, space grey or silver colour options that you can choose from. Like all iPhones before it, the iPhone 8 Plus 256 Gb was built to be at the top of the pile. This saw it come with features such as dust and water resistance with an IP67 rating. This meant the phone was encased in an aluminum frame with a glass front and a glass back. The 5.5-inch retina display also came with True Tone functionality. The 401 PPI of the display will free your mind to enjoy what's on-screen rather than try to make out what's happening on the display. Though Face ID was now available, this phone would still have Touch ID instead of the newer face detection feature. Wi-fi is common to phones from all top brands, and Apple Pay is a standard wireless payment option. By now, you should be sold on the phone and it's already in your cart. To ensure every bit of interaction you have with the phone, the Apple A11 Bionic chip was made the brains of the whole operation. There is a 3 core Apple GPU to aid with graphic-intensive applications such as gaming and watching movies at the full 2160p resolution of the screen. To ensure you never have to experience stutters and buffers, the phone is equipped with 3 gigs worth of RAM and 256Gb of NVMe storage. Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus - Revisited in 2021

Apple debuted the new iPhone 8/8 plus in September 2017 in Australia and elsewhere around the world on the back of the highly successful iPhone 7 and 7 plus released the previous year. It retains the same form factor as the original iPhone 6 but with a glass back to support electric conduction needed for wireless charging.

When searching for an unlocked mobile phone, the price can be an important factor, but it can be difficult to know how much you should be paying for a handset that suits your needs. As well as having different specifications, there are also different operating systems to consider (Hint: Android vs Apple's iOS). The iPhone range has struck a chord with billions of people around the world, and even older cheaper refurbished iPhones are in high demand whether they are on sale or not.

From a distance, most new iPhones look exactly the same from the front (XS Max, 11 Pro, X, XR). However, each model of the iPhone differs in some way and knowing what you are looking for ensures that you're not paying a higher price for features that will not be used.

Specs

The iPhone 8 has a 4.7-inch screen size and features Retina HD true tone display technology (Software auto-adjusts the white balance depending on the surrounding light) with a 1334 x 750 pixels resolution. It is available in 64GB and 256GB storage options and is supported by an A11 Bionic with 64-bit architecture chipset, M10 motion co-processor along with 2GB RAM. The 1821 mAh battery can offer up to 14 hours of talk time or 12 hours of Internet use. Charging is carried out via a Lightning port and can deliver a 50% charge in 30 minutes when a compatible wall adapter is used. The device was released in four colour variants, gold, silver, space grey, (product) red and offers an impressive 12MP (MegaPixel) rear camera and a 7MP front-facing camera with optical image stabilization.

The measurements of the iPhone 8+ are 6.24 x 3.07 x 0.30 inches with a 5.5-inch Retina HD screen (with true tone) and 1920 x 1080 pixels. Battery life is improved as it includes a 2,675 mAh battery which can deliver 21 hours of talk time or 13 hours of Internet usage (combined wifi or gsm cellular usage).

Another area of improvement is the camera, which now offers a dual 12 Megapixel rear camera as well as a 7MP front-facing camera and you can take great selfies with it. And on top of that, the cameras support HDR, portrait lighting and other lighting effects. There is also extra power under the hood thanks to 3GB RAM but the chipset is the same as the smaller 8. The 8 Plus also features a telephoto lens and optical zoom.

Both devices have glass backs, the same LTE capabilities, and can be upgraded to the latest iOS 14 from its original iOS 11.

Which Mobile Phone To Choose?

In 2021, both devices offer an affordable introduction to Apple’s iconic iPhone range without having to pay a hefty price, and while some may be surprised to find just how affordable a premium device can be, for many individuals, the price can be a deterring factor. Those looking for more screen real estate (minus the bezels) and power will be paying a little more for the 8+, but the jump in price is not too drastic making the bigger variant a viable option. It's almost as big as the iPhone XR & iPhone 11 without the hefty price tag.

Despite having a smaller screen, the iPhone 8 is still a fantastic smartphone that delivers all you need. If you are using this phone for browsing the web via wifi or gsm data, making contactless payments using embedded NFC or playing music via Bluetooth in your car or home and don't mind the thick bezels, then it's a solid option that is affordable while still relevant with great features like state-of-the-art wireless charging & Touch ID which is conveniently embedded in the home button. It's powered by the same iPhone X's A11 Bionic processor which is a Hexa-Core 2.39GHz processor and still handles everything with ease. Available in 4 different colours; Gold, Space Gray, Silver & (product)Red, it's exactly the same size as the new iPhone SE 2020 but a tad smaller than the Samsung Galaxy S20.

iPhone 8 and 8+ Price in Australia

Apple store has stopped selling both these models since early 2020 so you cannot buy it brand new. Some retailers might be holding onto some of their old stock so it's best to check out online who might be having it. When it was released, the device was boxed with a 5W charger but supports Fast charging up to 15W. Expect to pay around $799-$1000 AUD for brand new depending on the storage capacity. Refurbished prices have been quite steady over the years and are as follows

iPhone 8 64GB Grade A $349
iPhone 8 256GB Grade A $419

iPhone 8 Plus 64GB Grade A $429

iPhone 8 Plus 256GB Grade A $499

A quick google search will tell you not a lot of resellers sell it brand new as Apple discontinued it a while back in 2019 although iOS software updates will continue to roll out up until 2023.

You might be able to buy an ex-demo, pre-owned or refurbished one for $299-$499 depending on the storage capacity and overall cosmetic condition.

Is iPhone 8 or 8+ still worth buying in 2021?

It was one of the best selling smartphones in 2018 and continues to be one of our top sellers in the Apple refurbished iPhone category. it's powered by a capable processor along with Apple's excellent iOS optimizations. It can do it all from taking excellent pictures to gaming and still manage to last an entire day. It feels premium in the hands and can be updated to iOS 14. You should definitely consider buying it in 2021.

Where to Buy Cases or Accessories?

We have a huge range of cases that you can buy here. You can also find cases at other leading retailers such as Officeworks, JB hi-fi, Kogan, Big W, Harvey Norman & Phonebot but make sure to compare the prices for fantastic savings and huge discounts. Recently the Tech21 case has been a smashing success and most people prefer this particular type of case then the soft TPU cases or the outdated wallet covers.

Is Repairing Your Phone Worth it?

To simply answer the question, YES! It's 100% worth it to replace your broken iPhone screen. These phones are still brilliant devices and changing the screens on them is no problem at all. The screens are quite cheap to source and the labour isn't too expensive either. Word of caution though, Apple doesn't sell original screen replacements so unless you go directly to Apple for screen replacement, third-party repair vendors use aftermarket parts as they are affordable and readily available. iPhone 8 screen replacement should cost you around $100 and 8 plus screen replacement around $150 depending on where you get it fixed, it'd more convenient for you if you're in the same postcode but shipping to them is also worth it if the retailer is reputable. Make sure you're getting at least 30 days warranty with the repair.
