Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus in Australia

Apple debuted the new Apple iPhone 8 and 8 plus in September 2017 in Australia and elsewhere around the world on the back of the highly successful Apple iPhone 7 and 7 plus released the previous year. It retains the same form factor as the original iPhone 6 but with a glass back to support electric conduction needed for wireless charging.

When searching for an unlocked mobile phone, the price can be an important factor, but it can be difficult to know how much you should be paying for a handset that suits your needs. As well as having different specifications, there are also different operating systems to consider (Hint: Android vs Apple's iOS). The iPhone range has struck a chord with billions of people around the world, and even older cheaper Apple refurbished iPhones are in high demand whether they are on sale or not.

From a distance, most new iPhones look exactly the same from the front (iPhone XS Max, 11 Pro, X, XR). However, each model of the iPhone differs in some way and knowing what you are looking for ensures that you're not paying a higher price for features that will not be used.

Still worth buying in 2023?

It was one of the best selling smartphones in 2018 and continues to be one of our top sellers in the Apple refurbished iPhone category. it's powered by a capable processor along with Apple's excellent iOS optimizations.

It can do it all from taking excellent pictures to gaming and still manage to last an entire day. It feels premium in the hands and can be updated to iOS 14. You should definitely consider buying it in 2023.

iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8 Price in 2023 in Australia

Apple store has stopped selling both these models since early 2020 so you cannot buy it brand new. Some retailers might be holding onto some of their old stock so it's best to check out online who might be having it.

When it was released, the device was boxed with a 5W charger but supports Fast charging up to 15W. Expect to pay around $799-$1000 AUD for brand new depending on the storage capacity. iPhone 8 prices have been quite steady over the years and are as follows;

A quick google search will tell you not a lot of resellers sell it brand new as Apple discontinued it a while back in 2019 although iOS software updates will continue to roll out up until 2023.

You might be able to buy an ex-demo, pre-owned or refurbished one for $299-$499 depending on the storage capacity and overall cosmetic condition.

Which One To Choose iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus?

In 2023, both devices offer an affordable introduction to Apple’s iconic iPhone range without having to pay a hefty price, and while some may be surprised to find just how affordable a premium device can be, for many individuals, the price can be a deterring factor.

Those looking for more screen real estate (minus the bezels) and power will be paying a little more for the 8+, but the jump in price is not too drastic making the bigger variant a viable option. It's almost as big as the iPhone XR & iPhone 11 without the hefty price tag.

Despite having a smaller screen, the iPhone 8 is still a fantastic smartphone that delivers all you need. If you are using this phone for browsing the web via wifi or gsm data, making contactless payments using embedded NFC or playing music via Bluetooth in your car or home and don't mind the thick bezels, then it's a solid option that is affordable while still relevant with great features like state-of-the-art wireless charging & Touch ID which is conveniently embedded in the home button.

iPhone 8 is also powered by the same iPhone X's A11 Bionic processor which is a Hexa-Core 2.39GHz processor and still handles everything with ease. Available in 4 different colours; Gold, Space Gray, Silver & (product)Red, it's exactly the same size as the new iPhone SE 2020 but a tad smaller than the Samsung Galaxy S20.

Buy New, Used or Refurbished?

Getting a preowned or secondhand device has its own pros and cons. Many of us have heard mostly the bad side of refurbished products and all but those rumours aren’t necessarily true. Refurbished products are said to be damaged or malfunctioning which isn't true. Refurbished goods are recovered and restored in order to make them usable again. The deal is to not get your smartphone from any shady site, instead get your gadgets from websites like Phonebot. You can get a refurbished iPhone 8 Plus as it is on sale now.

Where to Buy Cases or Accessories For iPhone 8?

We have a huge range of cases, you can buy phone covers for extra protection or just to give it a new look. You can also find cases at other leading retailers such as Officeworks, JB hi-fi, Kogan, Big W, Harvey Norman & Phonebot but make sure to compare the prices for fantastic savings and huge discounts.

Recently the Tech21 case has been a smashing success and most people prefer this particular type of case then the soft TPU cases or the outdated wallet covers.

Is Repairing iPhone 8 Worth it?

To simply answer the question, YES! It's 100% worth it to replace your broken iPhone screen. These phones are still brilliant devices and changing the screens on them is no problem at all. The screens are quite cheap to source and the labour isn't too expensive either. Word of caution though, Apple doesn't sell original screen replacements so unless you go directly to Apple for screen replacement, third-party repair vendors use aftermarket parts as they are affordable and readily available.

Second-hand iPhone 8 screen replacement should cost you around $100 and second-hand iPhone 8 plus screen replacement around $150 depending on where you get it fixed, it'd more convenient for you if you're in the same postcode but shipping to them is also worth it if the retailer is reputable. Make sure you're getting at least 30 days warranty with the repair.
